All Things Vibraphone Conference 2012

An International Conference Focusing on the Vibraphone, Past, Present and Future

International virtuoso vibraphone artist Joe Locke (USA) headlines this 5 day international seminar and conference focusing on the Vibraphone.

Musicians, scholars and educators will celebrate this often overlooked keyboard percussion instrument through masterclasses, clinics and scholarly papers, hosted by the ANU School of Music.

- Full Conference: Mon-Fri + Conference Dinner (Thu) + All Concerts $350 inc GST
- Mini Conference:Thu & Fri + Conference Dinner (Thu) + Final Concert (Fri) $200 inc GST

10am - 1pm: Linear Improvisation
2:30pm - 5pm: Ensemble Session "Guijira" by Chick Corea with Joe and all participants

TUESDAY 11 September
10am - 1pm: Jazz Harmony on the Vibraphone, "Harmonizing a Standard"
2.30pm - 5pm: Masterclass on "Standards"

WEDNESDAY 12 September
10am - 1pm: Song Writing and Composition
2:30pm - 5pm: Master class participants composition

THURSDAY 13 September
10am - 1pm: Improvisation for Beginners, Locke Etudes, "Phrasing, Dampening and Pedalling Technique of the Vibraphone"
2:30pm - 5pm: Presentation of Scholarly Papers
7pm - 9pm: Conference Dinner

FRIDAY 14 September
10am - 1pm: Joe Locke "New York Calling" Life and Times
2:30pm - 5pm: "Spirituality of the Imperfection in Music"
7:30pm: Final Concert
