Capital Jazz Project 2012
Welcome to this year’s Capital Jazz Project, produced by The Street Theatre, a proven and nationally respected music and artistic hub and the Australian National University School of Music, the high level music education institution whose students and alumni heavily feed into the musical landscape of Australia.
Canberra’s midwinter celebration of jazz continues to grow and grow, enabled by a strong network of relationships with artists, partners, supporters, and sponsors. These partnerships make Capital Jazz Project what it is and we thank everyone for the part they play.
2012 features international, interstate and home-grown stars from across the generations and there is much to explore within our program. Our two artists-in-residence – the legendary Bennie Maupin and the inimitable Joe Chindamo – will share with ANU students over the ten days of the festival their searching for new ways to make music and exciting collaborations.
If club sessions are your thing then Street Two offers up a sensational stream of virtuosic performers in the ambient surrounds of our jazz club promising an intimate up close music experience. Or hit Street One for the epic jazz events starting with our thrilling festival opener internationally acclaimed sensation Paul Capsis. And don’t forget just hanging out in The Street foyer talking jazz!
Whether you’re a jazz enthusiast, or new to the scene, artist or audience, Capital Jazz Project offers something for everyone as it promises to grow into one of Canberra’s landmark music events. Have a great time!
